Wishing Everyone in the U.S. a Restful Labor Day Weekend…

September 5, 2009

But I know that many of you will still be working over the weekend, as am I. Why such dedication? Because we believe in what we’re doing, and we know that what we’re doing is important in the lives (and deaths) of others.

Somehow I’m reminded of the firefighters who come to our aid to brave the flames of the wildfires throughout the state. We take them for granted too; but throughout California this month there are signs…”Thank you, Firefighters!”

They are all relatively “invisible” to us, until they’re needed. Just like you folks.

So, I want to say “Thank you!” to all funeral service professionals – men and women. Where would we, as a society, be without you? I shudder to think.

Try to get some rest this weekend, women of funeral service. Rest, in the quiet spaces “in between.”
