In a recent online article, Students Help the Living at Norwood’s Fine Mortuary College, author Julie M. Cohen profiles two female mortuary college students –and shares their reasons for choosing this career. “Their goal in pursuing associate degrees in applied science in funeral service is to help the living. Both had a desire to help others in times of crisis.”
These sentiments are echoed by mortuary college students – whether male or female – around the country. Some are new to funeral service, and just have a deep desire to help others, while others are coming to the field to continue a family tradition of caring for both the living and the dead.
