Very few people come to a site like this one without need. Perhaps you’re looking to learn more about the growing role of women in funeral service. Or maybe you’re hoping to find a woman funeral professional in your area to help you when a loved one has died, or when their death is imminent.

While it’s true the Association of Women Funeral Professionals is here to support our members, it’s also true that we’re here to support you – the funeral consumer in need of information.

Many of our members have elected to be listed in the Women in Funeral Service Locator, so that you can find them more easily. Should you not find a listing for your locale, don’t hesitate to call us – we’ll do our best to connect you with a firm that employs a women funeral service professional.

What’s so Important about Working with a Woman?

You might be one of those people who are more comfortable with women professionals in general. Your doctor may be a woman; your house of worship may have a female pastor, or your attorney may be a woman. Perhaps you’ve chosen to have your children while under the care of a midwife. And many who seek a deeper understanding of their own psychological make-up turn to a therapist who is a woman.

We believe women are well-suited to funeral service. Naturally nurturing, and compassionate, women are great listeners. We usually opt to empower those around us to make the best decisions, based on an inner awareness. Women are comfortable as educators, and as most consumers aren’t aware of all the details involved in end-of-life decisions, or the options available to them to honor and celebrate the life of a loved one; a female funeral service professional is uniquely qualified – by her very nature – to sit down and patiently explain what it is you need to understand at this difficult time.
