The Rosemary C. Stacey Memorial Scholarship

Amount: $500

Application Deadline: July 31, 2011

Rosemary in 1965

This scholarship is in memory of my mother, Rosemary (known as “Patty” to her friends and siblings), who died in September, 1988. She was a very talented woman, with a ripe sense of humor – which faded over the years.

A very frustrated writer, Rosemary found life increasingly unbearable. The last years of her life were spent in isolation, and loneliness – having pushed everyone away from her with her alcoholism. This scholarship is my homage to a woman who helped to shape me, in so many ways – and my intention is that the scholarship will help others to find true satisfaction in their career, and happiness in their life. This scholarship is open to all women pursuing a career as a licensed funeral director or embalmer, pre-need adviser, celebrant, or grief counselor. This could include those women seeking:

  • Continuing Education Units
  • Additional Certification Training
  • Partial Mortuary College Tuition
  • Community College or University Continuing Education Course Work

Potential applicants need to provide a recommendation from an employer, colleague, or program director. This recommendation should provide the intended use of the scholarship, as well as any contact information we will need to affirm the scholarship recipients suitability; as well the scholarship applicant’s contact details (email, phone, and physical mailing address).

Send Letters of Recommendation to:

Scholarship Committee
Association of Women Funeral Directors
12949 Irwin Way
Boulder Creek, CA. 95006

Scholarship recipient will need to prove enrollment, and successful completion of the program, if requested.
